Casa rural Arroyo de la Greda is an authentic, friendly and homely Bed and Breakfast with 3 rooms with bathrooms-en-suite, located on the border of a typical picturesque Andalusian mountain village Güéjar Sierra, which lies directly next to the Sierra Nevada National Park and Granada.
b&b or apartment
The Casa Rural, which literally means "House in the countryside", is a Bed and Breakfast and has been open since September 2007.
Our purpose is to offer a peaceful place, with 3 nice, bright, clean and ample rooms, comfy beds and a good shower in private bathroom. The large terrace offers a beautiful view to the mountains, village and reservoir and a good place to spend for example a nice evening watching the sunset.
The house is located at the end of the village, next to a little mountain stream known as "Arroyo de la Greda", to which it owes its name. The house is built on a plot divided in terraces. On the terraces there are many different types of fruit trees and a small vegetable and herb garden. The house has a beautiful 360 degrees panoramic view of Sierra Nevada and the village.
The guests also have a fully equipped kitchen at their disposal and a lovely sun terrace on the same floor offers the opportunity to relax with a glass of wine, to have a meal outside, or just to enjoy the views and the sun.
If you wish, breakfast will be offered by your host in the kitchen on the first floor.
We, the host family, are Joël Bartels, Julie Bartels - van Bosbeek and our children Noa and Ruben Bartels van Bosbeek. We live on the first floor of the house.
In 2003 we gave up our life in Holland to go to Spain. After an intensive search we found this beautiful spot, a perfect place for a B&B.
When we bought the house, it was a mixture of many small interconnected rooms, some with a proper roof but many with only a sheet roof. We restored the house extensively into an original andalusian house with a modern edge to it. as it has an underfloor heating system provided by a biomass boiler and the hot water provided by solar panels, and sound and thermal insulation.
what to do and see
Guejar Sierra is the gateway to the northern part of Sierra Nevada. It has the best access to the highest peaks as Mulhacen, Veleta and Alcazaba. For hiking and mountainbiking Guejar Sierra is a perfect basis. For skiing Guejar Sierra is a good alternative instead of staying in the ski village. Of course there are many other sports to practice as climbing, parapenting and horse back riding.
Also if you come to visit Granada only but you wish a quiet and cool place to stay, you can perfectly stay here. It is only 25 minutes drive to the city and its amazing Alhambra.
Sustainability and environmental commitment
Casa rural Arroyo de la Greda wants to make a difference for the environment as we feel grateful to be able to live and function in such an extraordinary environment as Sierra nevada NP. We try to maintain our porpery as energy neutral as possible, and have invested in biomass heating and solar panels and the
next step is solar energy, which we will realize in 2021. We also ask of our guests to help us to take care of our beautiful planet, and do that in different ways.
